Grape variety:
San Leonardo’s Carmenère is made using carmenère grapes grown on the estate's oldest vineyards.
Production area:
Locality San Leonardo - Borghetto A/Adige - Avio (TN).
Yield: 35 - 70 hl per hectare.
Vinification:
The grapes are vinified exclusively in cement tanks (50-80 hl), and undergo manual pigeage several times a day. The early months of maturation in cement tanks are followed by 18 - 24 months in new and pre-used barriques. Bottle ageing for at least three years before release onto the market.
Deion:
Pronounced ruby red colour with violet highlights. It has remarkable aromatic intensity, with fragrances encompassing green peppers and forest berries. The palate is full and warm, slightly herbaceous when young, becoming more rounded with age; it has exceptionally prolonged aromatic persistence. A wine of quite extraordinary character and longevity.
Matching:
An ideal partner for red meat dishes, poultry, roasts, braised or stewed meats, game and mature cheeses.
