Product description

The alluvial soils comprising a mixture of gravel, clay and eroded porphyry sand impart body, depth and structure to this wine.

Deion: Grape variety native to South Tyrol; very dark garnet with violet reflexes; an aroma of woodland fruits (blackberry and bilberry) meshed with violets, cinnamon, vanilla and black cherries; mouth-filling, ripe tannins and impressive length.

Food Choices: An extremely versatile partner for South Tyrolean cuisine, it is also an excellent match for roast beef, braised red meat with reduced sauces, lamb with mint sauce, game and mature cheeses.

Serve cool: 18°C.

Grape Variety: 100 % Lagrein pergola-trained vines.

Sites: Gries (suburb of Bolzano), Mantsch wine farmstead - soils comprise alluvial sand with eroded porphyry; perfectly southfacing site.

Winemaking: Fermentation lasting 12 days in stainless steel tanks, with subsequent malolactic fermentation, 14 months' maturation in oak (2/3 in large casks and 1/3 in barriques) and at least one year's bottle ageing.
