Product description

Grapes: 100 % Nebbiolo

Characteristics: A robust and elegant wine, obtained only favourable vintages, obtained a selection of Nebbiolo grapes the most terraced vineyards of Grumello,Valgella and Valtellina Superiore Sub-areas. The bunches are left to dry on mats in the Fruttaio "CA' RIZZERI", at an altitude of 500 m where they benefit the dry and well ventilated climate, ideal for the natural drying of the grapes. A red wine with a great structure but elegant at the same time. Burgundy red colour, typical of the vine grape varietals of origin. Intense and spicy bouquet, hints of fruit in spirit with clear notes of coffee, cocoa, roasted hazelnut and dried grape. Warm, vigorous, with a full, austere, rounded and balanced flavour.

Can be served with: Red meat, game and matured cheese.

"(2004) Unusually, both fermentation and ageing takes place in lightly-toasted Alliers oak barriques for 15 months. This 14.5% alcohol wine then has another year in bottle before release. It has a very deep, dark garnet colour. It is quite closed at first, with a tight, muscular, concentrated character and glimpses of brown sugar, meat and a leathery, smoky note. The palate has a lovely tension between sweet, dried fruits (raisins and prunes) and a much juicier, firm cherry character. It is intense and mouthfilling, with a sheen of tannin adding grip and good cherryish acidity."
