Product description
Weinegg is on the very top of our range. It is named after the castle of Weineck, which was situated on the Virgl Mountain above Bolzano until the beginning of the 12th century. Weinegg is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Lagrein, whereby only grapes the best vines with an age minimum of 15 years are chosen.
The harvest usually takes place at the end of October: It is exactly in these those days, that the Cabernet reaches is its full ripeness, Lagrein and Merlot are somewhat overripe and have slightly dried berries. Thanks to this, the wine has a special glaze and a particularly delicate bunch of flavours.
The elevation takes place in small and medium oak barrels (2-5hl), 50-80% of which are new. Weinegg is only produced in exceptional years: 2021, 2006 and 2007, to mention the last three vintages.
