Product description

GRAPE VARIETY: Pinot Noir

VINIFICATION: Temperature-controlled fermentation in open steel tanks and vinification in small oak casks (Allier, Nevers, and Jupille) for six months, followed by aging in large wooden barrels.

COLOR: Dark ruby-red

ABOUT THE WINE: The first Pinot Noir vines were introduced Burgundy and were planted in South Tyrol 150 years ago. Through the encouragement and support of Edmund Mach, the founder of modern Alto Adige oenology, the fastidious Pinot Noir has turned out to be the perfect grape variety for cool Alpine islands of microclimate. With the alternation of Mediterranean warming by day and cool nights, the flavors intensify on the gravelly, well ventilated soils of Montan without forfeiting that characteristic "Burgundian" finesse. The Pinot Nero Riserva has a fine, fresh perfume, characterized by an elegant sweetness that is reminiscent of mallow. On the palate, it has a velvety, extremely berry-like effect like a French Burgundy, and tones of fresh elderberries and wild cherries give the subtle fruit sweetness a succinct, finely-spiced structure.
